Legal Camp: The regulation of telecommunications and data in the digital society | Milan, June 5th

As part of RESTART structural project S14 – Net4Future, the University of Milan and the University of Naples Federico II are organizing the Legal Camp “The Regulation of Telecommunications and Data in the Digital Society”, which will be held in Milan on June 5^th.

The Legal Camp aims to be an opportunity for open and interdisciplinary dialogue among jurists, engineers, representatives of institutions, and operators in the telecommunications, digital services sector, with the objective of reflecting on the profound regulatory transformations taking place in the digital society. Consistent with the aims of the project, the event analyzes in particular the issues of operator regulation and the dichotomy of data protection and circulation.

The first session, of an academic and theoretical-systemic nature, will take place in the morning and will be chaired by Prof. Ilenia Tinnirello of the University of Palermo. It will host the speeches by Prof. Giovanna De Minico of the University of Naples Federico II, Prof. Marco Orofino and Prof. Federico Gustavo Pizzetti of the University of Milan, who will respectively address the relationship between rules and telecommunications, the tensions between fundamental rights and data governance, and the legal issues related to the use of neuro-data. This will be followed by scheduled speeches by colleagues from the Universities of Milan and Naples Federico II, with the aim of enriching the discussion with specific verticalisations.

In the afternoon, work will continue with two thematic round tables, devoted respectively to the Telco sector, OTT operators and digital services. In each of them, representatives of companies and institutions, engineers, technologists and lawyers will discuss the strategic choices in the regulatory field and the business models of the operators of the digital society in the making.
